Valentine Candy Pretzels are a fun holiday take on a classic treat and with only 4 ingredients, they are insanely easy to make! The candy melt coating and festive sprinkles make these Valentine Candy Pretzels look absolutely adorable and taste so yummy you won’t be able to stop reaching for them.
What You Need to Make Valentine Candy Pretzels
With only 4 main ingredients, these candy pretzels couldn’t be more simple to pull together. Here’s what you need:
Ingredients
- Mini pretzel twists (6 oz): You can use any pretzel you prefer, but I love how the mini pretzel twists look like little hearts once covered in candy coating!
- Candy melts (12 oz): In order to have a variety of colors, I used 4 oz of each white candy melts and light pink candy melts, and for the last 4 oz I added food coloring to my candy melts to make a darker pink (see the last bullet for further details). Red and purple candy melts would also be great additions.
- Coconut oil (~3 tsp): You’ll want to add about 1 tsp of coconut oil per 4 oz of candy melts when melting in order to get to the desired consistency for dipping your pretzels. You can also use vegetable shortening here if that’s what you have on hand.
- Festive sprinkles: The sprinkles are technically optional, but they really add that extra sweet kick that make these Valentine Candy Pretzels so special! I used a mix of small Valentine’s pearl sprinkles and this adorable pink and white sprinkle mix! Amazon has a ton of cute festive sprinkle options, like this Valentine’s sprinkle kit, as well.
- Food coloring (optional): If you want to just get white candy melts you can add some red food coloring to get various shades of pink and red! For my dark pink, I used my leftover pink and white candy melts (total 4 oz) and added about three drops of red and one small drop of blue.
Supplies
- 2-3 baking sheets
- Parchment paper
- Microwavable bowls
How to Make Valentine Candy Pretzels
- Line your baking sheets with parchment paper to set up the landing place for your dipped candy pretzels.
- Melt candy melts, along with coconut oil, according to package directions taking care not to overheat the candy. You can also add the coconut oil to the melts after they come out of the microwave and the excess heat will melt the oil. I recommend only working with 4 oz of melted candy at a time to ensure the melts remain a good consistency for dipping. So if you’re separating your melts into three colors like I did, just heat up and dip one color of pretzel at a time!
- Carefully dip each pretzel, shaking off the excess coating, and place on your parchment lined baking sheet. I like the look of the pretzels being about 3/4ths coated in the candy melt, but feel free to dunk the pretzels fully and pull out with a fork.
- Add sprinkles while the candy melts are still wet. I typically dip about 15 pretzels, add sprinkles to those, and repeat.
- Let your Valentine Candy Pretzels dry and harden completely before storing.
Customize Your Candy Pretzels for any Occasion
The best thing about these Valentine Candy Pretzels is they are incredibly quick to pull together, but also easily customizable for any occasion. Try customizing your candy melt and sprinkle colors for the next upcoming holiday or even your favorite team’s colors for game day!
You could also use chocolate chips or almond bark in this recipe if that is your preference. If using chocolate chips, note that you may need to add additional coconut oil to ensure the chocolate does not dry out in the microwave.
Storage Tips
Valentine Candy Pretzels are super easy to store – just store in an airtight bag or container at room temperature. I wouldn’t recommend refrigerating, as it might make the pretzels soggy.
These would also look adorable in a little clear cellophane or Valentine’s Day themed cellophane bag tied with some ribbon to make the perfect gift!
