The Perfect Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad

This chicken bacon ranch salad is the main course salad you’ll want to eat every day for lunch. I know from experience 😏 Chicken bacon ranch salad will actually fill you up since it’s packed with protein and a variety of veggies! It’s perfect as a main course for lunch or dinner, and also makes for a pretty simple meal prep. Don’t be surprised if this becomes a staple lunch in your rotation.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad Ingredients

The secret to a delicious, filling salad is to have equal parts greens and toppings. I love using a variety of fresh veggies to top this salad. I always aim to get at least three to four different colored veggies in each salad because each color of fruit and vegetable has different essential phytonutrients that support optimal health. So grab your spring mix and get ready to load on the goodness! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Spring Mix base
  • Your favorite veggies to top:
    • Bell pepper, cut into strips
    • Cucumber, cut into half moon slices
    • Cherry tomatoes, cut in half (the multicolored cherry tomatoes are my personal fav)
    • Avocado, cut into cubes
    • And any other veggies you please!
  • Sea salt
  • ½ Grilled chicken breast, seasoned to your liking and sliced
  • 1 slice turkey bacon, chopped
  • Crumble of goat cheese
  • Drizzle of your favorite Greek yogurt ranch dressing – I’m obsessed with the Bolthouse Farms Classic Ranch since it’s only 50 calories per 2 tbsp!! It’s a dressing you can feel good about using without sacrificing on taste, it’s too good.

How to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad

  1. Grill your chicken or otherwise cook to your liking. I use my Ninja Foodi Grill to get perfectly juicy grilled chicken without having to go outside. Don’t forget to season your chicken with your favorite seasoning blend. Lately I’ve been in a big Creole seasoning kick for my chicken and it works great in this salad.
  2. Cook your turkey bacon according to package directions.
  3. Wash and cut all of your veggies.
  4. Assemble your salad. Start with a base of spring mix, then add bell pepper, avocado, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber (or your other favorite veggies!) and a sprinkle of sea salt to season your vegetables. Next add your sliced grilled chicken and chopped up turkey bacon.
  5. Sprinkle on goat cheese and a drizzle of your Greek yogurt ranch dressing.
  6. Enjoy your meal! 😊

Variations

You can absolutely modify this chicken bacon ranch salad to fit your preferences. For me, the key is in the title. As long as I include the grilled chicken, bacon (turkey or pork!), and my favorite Greek yogurt ranch dressing, this salad is always spot on for me. 

Feel free to vary the veggies you include based on what you prefer. Though in my opinion, bell pepper, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and avocado are a killer combo.

Different cheeses (especially blue cheese!) would also work well here. Or, feel free to omit the cheese if that’s more your style. 

Chicken bacon ranch salad would also be a great addition to dinner with family or friends. Make a little extra and share with friends and family as a perfect side dish to any meal!

Meal Prep and Storage

This chicken bacon ranch salad works great as a meal prep lunch. Just grill 2-3 chicken breasts, cook 5 strips of bacon, and chop up all of your veggies on Sunday to have in the fridge during the week. At lunch time each day, throw everything together in a bowl and enjoy! 

I’ve also brought chicken bacon ranch salad with me to work many times. If you put everything in your to-go container with your dressing packed separately in a small condiment container, it packs well and makes for a delicious, filling work lunch.
